DTU among Top 10 Engineering Colleges of India

Adding another feather to its cap, Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, has yet again been ranked among the top ten engineering institutions of the country. DTU has been ranked ninth in the recent Outlook-MDRA Survey 2010 of ‘Top 50 Engineering Colleges’. In the same survey, DTU stands at eighth position in the list of ‘Top 10 Government Engineering Colleges’.

In the survey conducted last year (2009) by Outlook, DCE was placed at 14th position, which clearly indicates a quantum jump by the institution after being accorded a Technical University status.

The eight institutions ahead of DTU in this year’s overall ranking include seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Kharagpur, Kanpur, Mumbai, Madras, Roorkee, Guwahati and Varanasi, while the eighth institution is BITS Pilani. The survey also places DTU ahead of an IIT in the categories of ‘Personality Development and Industrial Interface’ and ‘Infrastructure’ and at fifth position in terms of ‘Placements’.

According to Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, “Consequent upon becoming a technological University, the focus of erstwhile DCE has shifted to curriculum innovation, strong industry partnership and on seamless integration of science and engineering. Its research and innovations have attracted the leading global brands to collaborate with DTU for cutting-edge research and development.”
