Doon University was established by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2005 vide its Act No. 18 of 2005 as a State Government University. It is a fully residential University. The vision of the University is to become a Centre of Excellence in chosen areas of Studies. The medium of instruction in the University is English. The University announces following courses for the academic year 2010-11.
- Issue of application forms starts on : 15′” March 2010,
- Last date for receiving completed application forms without late fee : 15′” May 2010, with late fee of Rs. 100/-: 21″ May 2010,
- Date of admission test : 13,h June 2010,
- Commencement of new session : 26″,July2010
The dates may be changed at the discretion of the university authorities.
The applications are invited from the eligible students for admission in following courses being offered by variousschoolsofthe Doon University.
SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES.
POST GRADUATE COURSES:
a) M.Sc. Natural Resource Management (20 Seats): Eligibility: Graduation in biological sciences or applied sciences from a recognized University with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST).
b) M.Sc. Environmental Studies (20 Seats): Eligibility: Graduation in basic or applied sciences from a recognized University with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST).
The PhD programme will also be offered in different disciplines from 2010.Details will be published on the University website shortly.
SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION c) M.A Communication (40 Seats): Eligibility: Graduation in any subject from a recognized University with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST).
SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT d) Master of Business Administration (40 seats): Eligibility: Graduation in any subject from a recognized University with 50 percent marks for general category and 45 per cent for SC/ST category).
SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES e) M.A Economics (30 Seats) : £//g/6»7/ry-Graduation with 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for SC/ST) from a recognized University with Economics as one of the subjects or Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for SC/ST).
SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES f) Integrated five year M.A Course (Chinese, Spanish, German languages: 20 seats each) Eligibility: 10+2 in any subject from a recognized Board with 50 percent marks (45 per for SC/ST).
II. CENTRE OF EXAMINATION: (1) Dehra Dun (2) Srinagar (Garhwal) (3) Haldwani (4) Almora (5) Delhi (6) Lucknow (7) Chandigarh (8) Shillong (9) Jorhat (10) Kolkata (11) Guwahati. The University reserves its right to change/cancel the centre of examination at its discretion. The examination center mentioned in the admit cards will be final.
III.RESERVATION: Out of the total seats fifty per cent seats will be reserved for the candidates from the State of Uttarakhand. Remaining seats will be filled up as per merit. The reservation for SC/ST and OBC will be provided to the applicants of Uttarakhand as per the rules of Government of Uttarakhand. SC 1ST candidates from other states will be treated as General category.
HOW TO APPLY
Prospectus and application form can be obtained by post by submitting a Bank Draft of
Rs. 650/- for general categories and Rs. 350/-for SC/ST candidates of Uttarakhand, payable at Dehradun in
favour of Doon University Dehradun. The forms will also be available from the University office Kedarpur
campus/ Punjab National Bank, Ashley Hall branch Dehradun on payment of Rs 600 or Rs 300(for SC/ST of
Uttarakhand) in cash.A copy of the valid SC/ST certificate will be required at the time of issue of the form .The
candidates may also contact the University on telephone no 0135-2533105for any information.
