M.Sc. Entrance Test Notice 2010 - 11

50% seats will be filled up on the basis of merit based on marks obtained by the candidates in the respective B.Sc. (Hons.) Courses Examination from University of Delhi (not through Entrance Test). They are, however, advised to make application for the admission through Entrance exam as well.

Entrance Test for admission to the following Courses is being conducted to fill up 50% seats of total intake on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test.

Forms

Application Forms are available from the Office of the Faculty of Science, Unit - I, Pota Cabin, Near Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110007, on all working days between 10:30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on cash payment of Rs.100/-

For Obtaining Application Form by Post : On remitting a crossed Bank Draft of Rs. 100/- for each course in favour of the Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at State Bank of India Service Branch, New Delhi (Code no.7687). A self addressed envelope of size (25cms x 17cms) with postage stamps worth Rs. 27/- attached should also be enclosed with the request to be addressed as indicated above.

Draft must be purchased only from the branches of State Bank of India. Date for sale of Bulletin w.e.f 3.5.2010 Last Date for Receipt of Completed Application : 26.05.2010

Eligibility

Minimum Eligibility requirements for admission to the Master Degree Courses in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Anthropology, Geology and Environmental Studies through Entrance Examination are as Under :-

M.Sc. Course in Physics

Intake capacity : 147

B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics (3 years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognised as equivalent to University of Delhi and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate both main and subsidiary (integrated) and 50% or above marks in Physics.

OR

B.Sc. (Genl.)/B.Sc. (Pass) B.Sc.(H) Electronics, B.A.Sc.(H) Instrumentation B.A.Sc. (H) Electronics (3 Years Course after (10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognised as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 60% or above marks in the aggregate and 60% or above marks in Physics.

OR

Any branch of Science or Engineering with Physics and Mathematics as two of the Subjects of study.

Eligibility: 60% or above marks in the aggregate and 60% or above marks in Physics.

NOTE:

1.    A candidate passing B.Sc.(Hons.) Physics as main subject must have passed Mathematics and Chemistry/Statistics/Geology/Electronics/Computer Science as subsidiary / ancillary subjects.

2.    A candidate who wishes to be admitted to M.Sc. Course in Physics must have passed B.Sc. (Genl.)/(Pass) Examination with either of the following combination:

(a)                Physics, Chemistry and Maths. (b)               Physics, Maths and Statistics. (c)                Physics, Maths and Geology. (d)               Physics, Maths and Electronics. (e)                Physics, Maths and Computer Science.

M.Sc. Course in Chemistry

Intake capacity : 139

B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry (3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to University of Delhi and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate and 50% or above marks in Chemistry. Candidate must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or equivalent examination recognized by the University of Delhi with Mathematics.

OR

B.Sc.(Genl.)/B.Sc. (Pass)/B.Sc. (Prog.)

(3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University from any stream and with any combination of subjects, but having chemistry as one of them whose examination is recognized as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility:  60% or above marks in aggregate and 60% or above marks in Chemistry. Candidate must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or equivalent examination recognized by the University of Delhi with Mathematics.

M.Sc. Course in Botany

Intake capacity : 39

B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany/B.Sc. (Hons.) Biological Science (3 Years Courses after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to University of Delhi and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate and 50% or above marks in Botany.

OR B.Sc. (Genl.) / B.Sc. (Pass) / B.Sc. Life Science (3 years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University Whose Examination is recognised as Equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 60% or above marks in aggregate and 60% or above marks in Botany.

NOTE:

1.  A candidate must have passed B.Sc. (General) examination with Botany, Chemistry and Zoology / Environmental Studies at the qualifying examination.

2. A candidate passing Botany (Honours) examination must have passed any two out of Chemistry and Zoology and Environmental Science as subsidiary / ancillary subject at the last qualifying Examination.

M.Sc. Course in Zoology

Intake capacity: 46

B.Sc.(Hons.) Zoology/B.Sc. (Hons.) Biological Science (3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate and 50% or above marks in Zoology.

OR

B.Sc.(Hons.) / B.Sc.(Pass)/B.Sc. Life Science (3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognized as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligiility: 60% or above marks in aggregate and 60% or above marks in Zoology.

NOTE:

1.    A candidate must have passed B.Sc. (General) examination with Chemistry, Botany and Zoology at the qualifying examination.

2. A candidate passing Zoology (Hons.) examination must have passed Chemistry and Botany as his/her subsidiary / anciallary subject at the last qualify examination.

M.Sc. Course in Anthropology

Intake capacity: 23

B.Sc.(Hons.) Anthropology/B.Sc. (H)

Biological Science (3 years) course or B.Sc. (H)/B.A. (H) in one of the following subject from Delhi University or from any other University whose examinations are recognised as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other eligibility conditions.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate and 50% or above marks in the main subject.

OR

B.Sc. (Genl.) Group 'B' / B.Sc. (Pass)/ B.A. (Pass) with Anthropology B.Sc. Life Science (3 years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognised by the University of Delhi as equivalent to Delhi University and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility:   60% or above marks in aggregate and 60% or above marks in the concerned subject.

NOTE:

1.  The candidate will be required to have passed B.Sc. (Hons.) / B.A.

(Hons.)/B.Sc. (Hons.) Biological Science Examination in one of the following subjects either as main or elective subjects as the case may be :-

Botany, Zoology, Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Instrumentation, Social Work, Geology, Biological Science and Biomedical Science.

M.Sc. Course in Geology

Intake capacity : 16

B.Sc. (Hons.) Geology (3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognised by the University of Delhi as equivalent and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 50% or above marks in aggregate and 50% or above marks in Geology.

OR

B.Sc. (Genl.)/B.Sc. (Pass) (3 Years Course) with Geology, After 10+2 from Delhi University or any other University whose examination is recognised by the University of Delhi as equivalent and fulfil other conditions of eligibility.

Eligibility: 60% or above marks in aggregate and 60% of above marks in Geology.

NOTE:

1.    A candidate must have passed B.Sc.(Genl.) examination with Geology and combination of any two of the following subjects:-

Physics/Chemistry/Maths/Botany/Zoology/Environmental Science/ Geography (besides Geology).

2.   A candidate who has passed B.Sc. (Hons.) Examination from University other than Delhi University where the marks of subsidiary / ancillary subjects are added in the overall result and percentage, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.

Candidate should have passed any two of the ancillary / subsidiary subjects : Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, Geography (besides Geology).

M.A./M.Sc. Course in Environmental Studies

Any undergraduate (B.A./B.Sc./B.A.Sc.(H)/ B.Com Hons./Pass Course) (3 Years Course after 10+2) from Delhi University or any other University whose Examination is recognized as equivalent and fulfil other conditions of eligibility, but having at least one science subject (Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Maths) at 10+2 Level.

Eligibility:  55% or above marks in aggregate.
