The candidate must have passed the relevant degree in the relevant field (as given in Table-1) with (10+2+3 / 4 years) pattern from a recognised University.

In Person: From the Examination Centre, Anna University Chennai, Chennai - 600 025, on payment by Demand Draft for Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu on production of a copy of Permanent Community Certificate in card format).
By Downloading from the Website: The Application Form and Information Booklet can also be downloaded from http://www.annauniv.edu/msc2010/pdf/Application.pdf. The filled-in application should be sent along with documents and D.D. for Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) towards registration fee.
GENERAL STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME:
The Programme comprises a background subject, a core subject, an elective subject and a research project. The background subject and core subject are offered in the first semester. The elective subject is offered either in the first semester or in the second semester. A candidate shall be required to pass the background and core subject before he / she submits the thesis
How to Apply?
Application Form together with information and instructions to candidates can be downloaded from the Anna University Chennai website: http/www.annauniv.edu/mphil2010 . The candidates shall send the filled-in application with required enclosures and Demand Draft for Rs.600/- for General category (Rs.300/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates have to enclose a copy of Permanent Community Certificate in Card Format). The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of ‘The Director (Admissions), Anna University Chennai, payable at Chennai and should be obtained from any nationalised bank on or after 18.04.2010. Completed application should be sent to the Director (Admissions), Anna University Chennai, Chennai 600 025 so as to reach him on or before 10.05.2010.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Entrance Examination conducted by the respective Departments of the University following the rule of reservation of Government of Tamil Nadu. The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Chennai Centre only. Preference in admission will be given to those qualified in the National Educational Test conducted by UGC/ CSIR and GATE.
