Students aspiring to pursue an undergraduate degree in the capital finally have some respite from the skyhigh cut-offs in Delhi University. From this academic year, Ambedkar University of Delhi (AUD) will launch undergraduate courses in humanities. The forms will be sold from June 28 to July 15. As AUD is funded by the state government, 85% seats will be reserved for students from NCT.’’ Application forms for AUD will be available after DU’s first cut-off list is declared. This would give some hope to those who could not get the admission into Delhi University. Those who fail to get into the course of their choice will also have option to try their luck at Ambedkar University. The procedure for admission is almost the same.

Admissions will be carried out on the basis of class XII marks. Unlike at DU, it will not be compulsory for students to include English in the best of four aggregate. AUD is the first university to offer a four-year dual-major BA (honours) degree.

BA Honours Programmes:

BA Honours with major in Economics Three years (Six semesters) BA Honours with major in Psychology Three years (Six semesters) BA Honours with major in History Three years (Six semesters) BA Honours in Social Sciences and Humanities Three years (Six semesters) BA Honours with dual major Four years (Eight semesters)

Eligibility:

10+2 with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized Board. Reservation of seats and relaxation of eligibility conditions are in accordance with the rules of the Government of NCT of Delhi.

Fees:

Rs 16,000 per Semester will be charged as the full programme fees plus a refundable caution deposit of Rs 2,000 for use of facilities.

Fee Waivers and Scholarships:

A large number of Partial and Full Fee Waivers and Scholarships will be available.

Medium of Instruction:

English

Application Form

Bulletin of Information and Application Forms will be available from 28 June 2010 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m Monday to Saturday at the campus of the University, at select locations in Delhi University, and at some branches of Canara Bank (list will appear on the AUD website). The form will also be downloadable from the University website. Admission will be on the basis of marks obtained in the Class 12 board examination.
