All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Exam

The AIEEE is proving that it focuses more on the values and attitude and aptitude of the students, besides mandatory verbal, numerical and subject knowledge/capacity. The AIEEE bears a greater significance, as it is conducted as a national level entrance examination for engineering and architectural studies in the country. Thus, this is conducted as a gateway in admitting students into the bachelor degrees such as, B. E. / B. Tech and B. Arch / B. Planning. The exam is conducted by the CBSE and it is recognized and followed by most of the reputed institutions in the country such as, NITs, IITs, Birla Institute of Technology, etc…

Exam Pattern

It comprises of two exam patterns, i.e. one exam pattern is for the engineering admissions in the country and the other one is for the architectural admissions. The exam pattern for the engineering studies consists of one paper, which in turn comprises of questions from mathematics, physics and chemistry. In this pattern, math and physics are considered as compulsory subjects and chemistry would fall into the category of optional subjects, which also consists of subjects like, biotechnology, computer science and biology. It is a 3 hour examination and the question structure is of objective type, bearing equal weightage to all the three subjects.

The exam pattern for architecture admissions consists of three parts, which involves questions from mathematics, an aptitude test paper and finally drawing test paper. The math and aptitude test consists of objective type questions, whereas the drawing test paper comprises of questions to test the drawing aptitude of the students. The aptitude test conducted for the architectural admissions comprise of questions that are designed to evaluate the mental ability and architectural aptitude of the students, besides testing the two dimensional and three dimensional drawing capability, observational capacity, and creative and reasoning abilities, etc…

AIEEE Online

The AIEEE has already made many reforms through its online counseling, online admission/registration, etc… But, recently it has also announced that it is going to be accomplished via online, which means from the year 2011 onwards, the students would be attending the AIEEE in the online, rather undergoing a paper-pencil entrance test, which is the current existing pattern of AIEEE. Hence, it is going to take the shape, similar to CAT. Thus the students would be receiving the results immediately after finishing the examination.

This is of course great news for the students, who are planning to undergo AIEEE next year for the major reason that it displays the results at the end of the exam. Thus, the students would not be facing any panicking situations, which they were facing till date, as they have to wait for their results at least 10 to 15 days, during which they cannot decide on their career. The CBSE is working hard on the effective implementation of AIEEE, as accomplishing this in practice is not that easier, because around 11 lakh students would be attending the exam. Hence, proper care must be taken right from the identity recognition procedures, organizing the exam in the study centers, before that choosing the study centers with standard and quality, according to the number of students in a particular region to monitoring till the phase of displaying results! Yes, it is a huge challenge to CBSE!
